Be Proactive: Disaster Preparedness Workshop
Attleboro Public Library BIG Read Event

September is National Disaster Preparedness Month. The Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) is a national network of volunteers, organized locally to improve the health and safety of their communities. Local members of the group (BNMRC) assist with preparations for a range of possible emergencies, from hurricanes and blizzards to a flu pandemic and acts of terrorism. Join us at 7:00pm for this free training which emphasizes the importance of planning ahead for an emergency and will help give you peace of mind as you plan for how to keep your family and friends safe. Guidelines are also provided for developing a personal preparedness plan and address the type of supplies and information that should be considered for a “Go-kit”. Registration is encouraged to assist with set up for the event. To register, call the Attleboro Library at 508-222-0157.

Logan International Airport - L.E.A.P Exercise

The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) and our partners at Boston Logan Airport are extending an invitation to Medical Reserve Corps of Massachusetts to be part of a unique and valuable emergency preparedness learning opportunity.

Recent events worldwide underscore the need to be prepared for a real or perceived violent event in our community. To test our preparedness, Massport is sponsoring the Logan Emergency Action Plan – LEAP Exercise.  We are seeking volunteers to assist our 1st responders in a Full-Scale Active Shooter / Hostile Event training exercise.  The exercise will take place on Tuesday, September 26, from 8 PM – 2:30AM (overnight), at Logan International Airport.  We welcome Medical Reserve Corps participation in this exercise to assist us in testing real-time response and preparedness.  This is a great hands-on learning experience for our community. Briefings from senior federal and state law enforcement officials will be given prior to the exercise which will provide our volunteers with a comprehensive understanding of how to react to a hostile event from the perspective of a civilian, passenger, tenant or first responder.
